MUCHO RESEARCHHH!!!

"Research questions that are precisely framed too early in the study, on the other hand, may lead you to overlook areas of theory or prior experience that are relevant to your understanding of what is going on, or cause you to pay too little attention to a wide range of data early in the study, data that can reveal important and unanticipated phenomena and relationships."

This stood out to me because my research will be based in First Gen students whose first language is no English. There is a lot data to collect from this topic and I know I will probably relate to a lot of the people I will be interviewing. I will have to be careful not to set my research questions too early. If I do, I might miss important ideas or past experiences that can help me understand my topic better. I could also overlook valuable information in the beginning that might show new and surprising connections. It also stood out because I think it is saying how our different perspectives reflects how our unique experiences shape our understanding of the world. Destaca la importancia de aceptar la complejidad y permanecer abierto a hallazgos inesperados, lo cual es un enfoque valioso tanto en research como en la vida.

  2. Yes, this passage stood out to me, too. Guess we should expect the unexpected in qualitative research. :)
