Tuck y su Research

Tuck is speaking to groups of people, specially native and urban communities, who have often been taken advantage of by researchers. She understands that these communities have a difficult history with research. They feel like they are studied too much, but their needs and stories are often ignored in the results. This shows that it is important to conduct research in a way that respects these communities and values their voices and histories.

Something that stood out to me was how she talks about Resistance and Resilience. Especially in indigenous communities facing oppression. Resistance means actively fighting against unfair treatment. it includes actions like protesting, celebrating culture, and organizing people to stand up for their rights. it is about pushing back against harmful system and claiming one's identity and freedom. Resilience on the other hand refers to the ability to recover from hard times. However, Tuck warns against seeing resilience as just a personal strength.

She believes is wrong to place all the responsibility for survival on individuals or communities without looking at the deeper reasons for their struggles. instead of romanticizing resilience, we should also focus on the need for resistance. Tuck argues that both concepts are important: resilience helps people cope but we must also resist the things that cause suffering. by understanding both, we can better address the trauma and injustice that communities face. she encourages a shift from just surviving that actively fighting against the problems that creates the need for resilience
